5 Facts on Ade + Ayo from Shark Tank

  • by

Ade + Ayo is a children’s clothing line. Temidayo Adeokun created the line which features African patterns. Her mission is to educate kids on the culture. Her product is fashionable and will debut on Shark Tank March 11. Discover more about the brand below.

What is Ade + Ayo from Shark Tank?

1) Temidayo Adeokun started the company because there were no comfortable clothes for her newborn son in her favorite colors/patterns. She wanted to showcase the beauty of Africa and her Nigerian culture to him. So, she was inspired to create her own clothes. The company name comes from the first three letters of her last name and the last three letters of her first name. Ade means “crown” and Ayo means “joy” in Yoruba, a Nigerian language.

2) Currently available are clothes for babies and toddlers. There are one pieces, tops, bottoms, and accessories for each. Jumpers, overalls, dresses, shirts, pants, bibs, and bonnets are all available for purchase. There are even swaddles and crib sheets.

3) What makes Temidayo’s approach unique is that she writes about the print’s origin for each piece of clothing. So, for example, you can learn about handwoven patterns like kuba cloth, or discover more about adire, an indigo-dyed cloth from Nigeria. And of course, there’s also traditional information about the style, like the fit or what your child can wear it for.

4) New to the line are pacifier clips, scrunchies, and headbands. There are also fabric animals, like a crochet wolf and alpaca.

5) You can shop the clothes online at https://adeandayo.com/. Since being seen in Vanity Fair and on TODAY, it’s no wonder they’ve got over 10,000 Instagram followers. Temidayo’s got big dreams for her line, and she’ll need a shark to help get her there.
