American Idol airs its last round of auditions this week. One new contestant who will take the stage is Althea Grace. We’ve got five facts on the American Idol hopeful for you below. So, keep reading to learn more about Althea.

Get to Know Althea Grace
1) While her full name is Althea Grace, she goes by Grace. She’s a native of Algonquin, a village in Illinois. She’s 21 years old.
Bonus Fact: She graduated from Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville.
2) She has a two-year-old daughter named Lennon. Grace performed an original song she wrote for her daughter on American Idol.
3) Grace and her grandmother used to have a standing Idol date. They’d watch the show together and predict who would win, according to Shaw Local News. While they haven’t done that in a while, her whole family is rooting for her to make it big. They’ll gather on March 14 to watch her audition.
4) If you ask Grace, her music doesn’t fall into one category. She told her local news that she always says it’s pop “but it’s more like the Beatles or Fleetwood Mac would have been pop, not like what you’re hearing on the radio right now.”
Bonus Fact: She’s not the only Grace to audition this season! Grace Kinstler, who’s also from Illinois, auditioned on Feb. 14. They’re from the same county of McHenry, but never met before the auditions. Nevertheless, they bonded over their shared nerves.
5) When the pandemic hit, obviously her first priority was her daughter. So, music had to take a bit of a backseat. But, since moving to LA, Grace is ready to make it happen. She never thought she could make it on Idol, but decided to give it a try anyway.
