1) Dee and Angie Cowger founded their first take-out dairy bar, The Custard Stand, in 1991. They created it out of West Virginia, and when customers began asking where they could buy their famous chili, they decided to open their second business. Custard Stand Food Products. 2) Their bestselling hot dog chili and chili soup was presented on the ABC show. While they didn’t get a deal, the exposure led to a major uptick in sales. According to their official website, they had a 5,000% increase in sales! The hot dog chili was already in store chains like Kroger, but after the episode, stores already needed more orders!

3) Dee and Angie went into the tank asking for $400,000 for 10% of their company. This makes their valuation at $4 million. While they did not get a deal or an investor, they did see good results after the episode. They have 4 restaurants in West Virginia, and stores like Sam’s Club have ordered their products. There’s even online shopping on their website.

4) Their social media is decent. They have over 1,100 followers on Instagram. The business is also the official sponsor for West Virginia athletics, including star athlete Jason Lentz.

5) At the beginning of April, there was a study released by the Johnson-Ollis-Klepner-Elliot Institute which said that the ingredients in Custard Stand chili could help you live longer. According to the study, the compounds decrease inflammation and reduce cholesterol.
