Delighted by Dessert Hummus from Shark Tank: Update

  • by

Delighted by Dessert Hummus is exactly as it sounds: dessert flavored hummus. In season 9 of Shark Tank, it was pitched to the panel. Find out below if it was good enough to take home a deal, and what’s happened with the business since.

Delighted by Dessert Hummus Update

1) Makenzie Marzluff created the dessert flavored hummus. Her culinary background allowed her to experiment and come up with chickpea-based hummus flavors that tasted just like dessert. The gluten-free food item was pitched as an alternative to sweets like cookie dough or ice cream.

2) Makenzie’s presentation resonated with the sharks, because she struck a deal with Mark Cuban. She asked for $600,000 for 12% and got the $600K for 25%, according to Shark Tank Tales. Soon, her hummus was in retailers like Whole Foods, Walmart, Wegman’s, and Publix. Her product was the first dessert hummus to be sold in stores.

3) Later on, Makenzie rebranded her company to be Delighted By, a dessert brand that still sells hummus. But, she also sells brownies, blondies, and jam. White chocolate, chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter chocolate chip are only a few fun flavors.

4) Not only is Makenzie the CEO of Delighted By Dessert Hummus, she’s partnered in other ventures too. Those include: KAKAO Drinking Chocolate, REQUESTbar, and her own book on conscious business.

5) In 2021, Makenzie announced they were making the switch to a full 100% e-commerce model. Their products are still top notch, and it appears their packaging is colorful and exactly how she wanted it to be. All her dreams have come true, which is really what Shark Tank is about.
