Wedding bells were in the air this Christmas for Antonela Roccuzzo Messi’s sister Carla Roccuzzo and her husband Derek Pipolo. The couple got married over the holiday surrounded by family, including Antonela and her husband, Leo Messi. 1) Derek Pipolo is an MD, or doctor of medicine. According to his LinkedIn, he is currently a research assistant at Stanford University’s School of Medicine. In addition, his research has been featured in various medical journals over a few years.
2) He did his residency in neurology at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Pipolo also worked as a physician at three other hospitals in Argentina.
3) Derek met Carla because of their shared professions. Both of them met during undergraduate school at Universidad Nacional de Rosario (UNR, the National University of Rosario). Carla works as a surgeon, according to Essentially Sports. See a photo of them from when they first started dating!
4) While they haven’t been together as long as Antonela and her husband Leo, Carla and Derek dated for several years before getting married. Antonela is very happy for her sister, and the two are very close, as seen in early Instagram posts.
