Update on Ka Pop! from Shark Tank

  • by

When Dustin Finkel was eating so-called “healthy chips,” he couldn’t help but wonder if there was a better option out there that tasted great. He started experimenting, and Ka Pop! was born. Even his finicky son likes them, and they were a hit with his family and friends. So, he decided to try his luck on ABC’s hit entrepreneurial show, Shark Tank. Learn more about the product and what the company is up to now.

Details on Ka Pop!

1. The chips are made from ancient grains, which contain protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. Dustin uses sorghum, the nutty flavored grain often compared to wheat berries.

2. Interestingly enough, Dustin has a health background, as he’s a CrossFit instructor, and a fitness fanatic. He took that energy and channeled it into the food making business, as he wanted to create a healthier option of a classic snack.

3. While the ancient grain chip resembles a rice crisp, there’s no beating the 5 yummy flavors of Ka Pop!, which include: rosemary garlic, dairy-free cheddar, red & green sriracha, salt and vinegar, as well as olive oil and sea salt. The logo is reminiscent of a comic book slogan, which is a fun touch.

4. You can choose from 1 and 3 oz. variety packs, or you can buy the chips individually. They have recently released Ka Pop! Puffs, which look like a puffed snack, but are made with sorghum. The puffs come in: cinnamon churro, red & green sriracha, and dairy-free cheddar. 1 and 4 oz. variety packs are available for the puffs.

5. When Dustin represented his brand on Shark Tank, he had one shark – “Mr. Wonderful” aka: Kevin O’Leary – in his sights, but they did not end up doing a deal together. According to Shark Tank Blog, Ka Pop! has grown and is located in Sprouts, some Whole Foods, and 7-11 stores.

Update on Ka Pop!

Since Shark Tank, the brand has significant press, and expanded their Amazon store to include the puffs. You can buy all the chips, puffs, and variety packs you want on Amazon or on their official website.
