Meet Sloane Simon from American Idol

American Idol airs its last round of auditions this week. One new contestant who will take the stage is Sloane Simon. We’ve got five facts on the American Idol hopeful for you below. So, keep reading to learn more about Sloane.

1) Sloane Simon is 16 years old and is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Bonus Fact: She’d just joined her high school cheer team when the audition for Idol rolled around! She’s a sophomore at Fox Chapel High School. She did a Zoom audition for producers just minutes before her first home football game. She’s even in her cheer uniform in promotional photos! Talk about dedication.

2) Sloane told the Jewish Chronicle that auditioning was both “exhilarating and terrifying.” She performed an original song called “Laurel Canyon” and “Brand New Key” by Melanie.

3) She’s been playing guitar since she was 9. At age 13, Sloane was performing at venues like Hollywood’s legendary Viper Room.

4) Sloane’s voice has a great range, and a bit of a breathy tone. She’s almost reminiscent of pop artist Lennon Stella. Check out this lovely cover of Ariana Grande’s “God is a Woman” to see for yourself:

5) She was chosen as a 2021 National Young Arts Foundation winner. She was chosen amongst thousands across the country. That’s impressive for only 16 years old!
