An Update on IReTron from Shark Tank

  • by

If you have old electronics sitting around your house, IReTron is your solution to making them disappear. The re-commerce and recycling company lets people sell their old electronics for free. Jason Li went on Shark Tank with his business in 2014. So, where is it now? Find out below.

Update on IReTron from Shark Tank 2022

Unfortunately IReTron didn’t make it as a company and ended in 2019. The site’s domain, iretron.com still exists but it just shows an “under maintenance” page. In addition, Jason Li shows the company finished in 2019 on his Linkedin. He is currently working as a Product Manager for Oscar Health which is virtual care. Prior to this position, Jason Li worked as an Associate Product Manager for Drift. Hopefully he will continue to try new ideas!

What happened to IReTron from Shark Tank?

1) Jason Li founded IReTron in Los Angeles, California. In 2014, he appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank. According to MEDIUM, Jason almost didn’t do the show because when they contacted him, he thought it was a scam!

2) Jason went into the tank asking for $100,000 for 20%, and that’s exactly what he got. He got two sharks in on that deal: Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran.

3) After the episode, Jason’s ambitions were still high. At the time, he was college bound, and working on another startup idea. That idea was UProspie, a social platform for low-income students to access higher education. His second startup was FlipSide, a media platform where different points of view on an issue are shown.

4) Currently, none of Jason’s startups are active. Sadly, while the site for IReTron is still live, the company closed in 2019. This is based off of Jason’s LinkedIn, where he lists himself as Founder from 2011-2019.

5) Jason’s working as a product manager for Oscar Health in New York City. He’s been working there for 2 years now. He still does speaking engagements for business tips, like at the University of Iowa.
