McKenna Breinholt is a talented singer who appears on the new season of American Idol. Her audition was actually one of the ones that got released early to fans. The song she chose was “There Was Jesus” by Zach Williams and Dolly Parton. Her vocal stylings were on display, and left an impression on the judges. But, just who is she? 1) Her birthday is on August 19 and she is 25 years old. This makes her star sign a Leo. Leos are confident and have a dramatic flair which makes her perfect for the spotlight. McKenna is from Gilbert, Arizona.
2) Speaking of the spotlight, at only 17 years old, she performed an orchestral rendition of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The video went viral and truly showcased McKenna’s abilities. That’s not the only musical performance that wowed fans. Her Idol performance even got the attention of the singers themselves, Zach Williams and Dolly Parton. 3) She is from Mesa, Arizona. The singer was adopted when she was young. But, at 21, she had a revelation. McKenna Breinholt met her birth mother, Amy Ross Lopez, a singer from Bisbee, Arizona. Apparently, McKenna’s adoptive parents arranged for some members of her birth family to surprise her at the audition.
4) Her adoptive family includes mother Lisa, father Garin, plus brothers Cameron and Caden. They all support her musical aspirations. The Breinholt family is religious, and uses their faith to stay grounded. Speaking of faith, that’s McKenna’s middle name.
