ZUP from Shark Tank: 5 Facts & Update

  • by

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to surf, but were intimidated by the various boards and complex techniques, enter: ZUP, the company that’s on a mission to see that anyone can learn to wakeboard and surf, regardless of skill level. Keep reading below for five facts, and an update on the cool product that was featured on ABC’s Shark Tank.

1) ZUP (also known as Zup Boards) was designed by Glen Duff and Tim Zeckser, who were tired of their kids feeling frustrated by the large wakeboards and surfboards out there on the water, as they couldn’t exactly make it work on one of those. So, what started as a product for kids, turned into a greater purpose: to serve the kid in all of us (aka: all ages) and create a board that is easy to use and will get you results.

2) While they didn’t walk away with a deal on Shark Tank, their appearance on the show garnered national exposure for the brand, which led to increased popularity, and a subsequent uptick in sales.

3) ZUP Boards are active on Instagram, Facebook, and even YouTube. It makes sense, as their website totes videos as a major help in showcasing their product. Instagram has 6,000+ followers; Facebook has over 3,000 likes; YouTube comes in with 23,000+ views.

4) Their motto is: “Lay. Kneel. Stand. With this new board, everybody get ZUP [gets up].” That circles back around to their mission of making sure that everyone, regardless of their skill level, can learn to ride the waves.

5) You can buy ZUP on Amazon. ZUP’s Amazon reviews are very good, with 4.5/5 stars, and customers raving about the product, saying things like you have to “buy it” and it’s “perfect and will not disappoint.”
