5 Facts on Peekaboo from Shark Tank

  • by

Picky eaters, rejoice: now there’s a yummy way to eat your vegetables. Just ask Jessica Levison: her kids weren’t fans of veggies, so she began mixing them into ice cream. What started as a personalized way to help her children turned into a full blown business. If you’re curious to learn more about Peekaboo before it makes its Shark Tank debut this week, keep reading below.

Update on Peekaboo Ice Cream 2022

Did Peekaboo Ice Cream Get a Deal on Shark Tank?

The owner of Peekaboo walked into Shark Tank asking for $800,000 for 8% equity in their business. Two sharks offered deals. One was Kevin O’Leary who offered a 3 year $800,000 loan at 9% interest. Lori offered a 3 year $800,000 loan at 6% interest for 5% interest in the company. Ultimately they walked out without a deal.

From what we see, Peekaboo Ice Cream stopped posting to social media in December of 2021 after promoting a contest on Instagram and Facebook. They have 8.9K followers on Instagram and 1.7K on Facebook.

Their shop page on their official website shows two different product items labeled as collections. Both show as sold out without any other information. They have a “Peekaboo Party Box” which shows as available.

According to Shark Tank Blog, Peekaboo Ice Cream ran into a problem with a recall due to potential Listeria contamination with the Peekaboo co-packer.

It looks like the majority of the Peekaboo products aren’t available in retail stores nor on the website.

1) Jessica Levison is a mom, and she’s also the creator of Peekaboo, the vegetable infused ice cream. The whole idea is to get people to eat their greens, but actually enjoy the experience. Plus, who doesn’t like ice cream, you know?

2) Her product was recognized as one of the best by Mintel, one of the leading marketing analyses firms. They called it innovative, which is definitely a good term to describe it – it’s vegetables in ice creams, after all!

3) If you’re thinking that Peekaboo might taste like vegetables, you’d be wrong. Not only is it organic, it tastes just as good as any other ice cream. Plus, there’s more fiber and less sugar in Jessica’s version than the average.

4) There’s strawberry with hidden carrot, mint chip with hidden spinach, cotton candy with hidden beets, chocolate with hidden cauliflower, as well as vanilla, unicorn and cookie dough with hidden zucchini. There’s even strawberry sorbet with hidden tomato and mango sorbet with hidden squash (yes, tomato and squash are fruits, but to kids, it’s just more produce!)

5) You can buy the ice cream in Kroger, Safeway, select Whole Foods stores, as well as on Amazon. Jessica did have plans to launch a vegan ice cream, but the pandemic halted those. She hopes one of the sharks can make that dream a reality again.
