Update on Press Waffle from Shark Tank

  • by

“It’s a whole new way to waffle.” That’s the catchphrase of the cool brunch franchise company, Press Waffle. The delicious breakfast food has gotten a makeover thanks to the brand, who appeared on Shark Tank a couple years back. Run by Dallas-based brothers Bryan and Caleb Lewis, the product is homemade waffles, with a luxe twist. Find out more about the yummy waffles below with these five facts.

Details on Press Waffle Co.

1) Bryan and Caleb wanted to create authentic Liège waffles for everyone to enjoy. Inspired by travels to Europe, they wanted to have that one-of-a-kind, magical breakfast food back at home in Texas. So, they decided to create their own. Once they perfected the recipe, they took it all over town in a food truck.

2) After food trucks came their first shop in 2017. They have since expanded their business reach by franchising. This idea came after their Shark Tank appearance. They’ve also grown the number of storefronts they have. What started as 1 in Texas has now grown to 7 restaurants in parts of Texas, plus Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

3) What makes their waffles unique is that instead of making them like traditional Belgian, they use a richer dough for Liège. There’s pearlized sugar in it which makes it extra sweet. Then, Press Waffle does unique toppings or garnishes. You can go the traditional route, or, make your own. Monte Cristo sandwiches, Smores, or an all-American style breakfast waffle with egg, bacon, and cheese are also options.

4) Caleb and Bryan asked for $200,000 for 8% of their business. That makes the valuation of Press Waffle Co. around $2.5 million. They negotiated with a few sharks, like Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec. Ultimately, they sealed a deal with Barbara Corcoran. The deal was $300,000 for 15%.

5) Currently, they have close to 15,000 followers on Instagram. You can order their waffles on their official website. They hope to continue growing their business, including their menu and franchising. Considering they’ve done hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales, they are well on their way.

Catch Shark Tank on Fridays at 8 PM ET, only on ABC and re-runs on CNBC weekdays.
