Update: Teddy Needs a Bath from Shark Tank

  • by

Teddy Needs a Bath is the washer-and-dryer bags especially for stuffed animals. The product and its inventor Nicole Townend appeared on Shark Tank in 2013. While she ended up securing a deal, things didn’t exactly go as planned post Shark Tank. Take a look below to find out what happened for her product, and where the business is now with this update.

5 Facts About Teddy Needs a Bath

1) When she appeared on the hit ABC show, Nicole asked for $50,000 for 10%. But, panelist Mark Cuban offered her $100,000 for 30% until the investment is repaid, plus a 10% royalty.

2) According to Shark Tank Blog’s interview with Nicole, Mark actually loaned her the money, and became more of an advisor than an investor. Apparently, Mark’s wife used the product too!

3) Directly after her episode aired, her WordPress site got so many hits, they had to move servers! Orders went through the roof, and Babies R Us sold out of the online stock they had ordered. Things seemed to be headed in the right direction for Nicole and her product.

4) Currently, their website is still active, and you can purchase the small bag, or the XL bag. There are also cotton candy “teddy softeners” – which are sort of like scented dryer sheets. While you can still buy the items, some customers on their social media have been wondering about the status of their orders, which makes us wonder if they’re still in business.

5) Not to mention, none of their social media has been active since springtime. Facebook‘s last post was late February; Instagram‘s was in October 2020; Twitter‘s was in 2018, and it was a retweet.

Shark Tank season 13 will premiere on October 8 at 8 PM ET on ABC. In the meantime, catch up on other episodes via Hulu or on demand.
