Proven is a skincare company started by the CEO due to looking for a solution for a personal problem with her own “difficult skin.” CEO Ming Xhao steps on to the Shark Tank stage with her skincare solution. Will the sharks like her and want to invest? Find out more about the company below.

1. CEO Ming Xhao was told she had “difficult skin” and would spend a lot of time looking for solutions which would be inconsistent at best. Upon meeting her partner and co-founder Dr. Amy Yuan, they formulated a completely holistic approach to healthcare backed by data.

2. Together, Ming Xhao and Dr. Amy Yuan created The Skin Genome Project. It is a database comprised of:

  • The effectiveness of over 20,238 skincare ingredients.
  • Information about over 100,000 individual products (luxury, prescription, generic, etc.).
  • Over 8 million testimonials from real people.
  • Over 4,000 scientific publications.
  • The water hardness, humidity level, and UV index where you live.

3. Proven skincare often shares special skin tips and tricks on their Instagram page including this one which says, “Stop drying out your skin! Consider switching to warm or lukewarm water which is less likely to strip your skin of essential oils.”

4. They offer a skin quiz which takes advantage of the thousands of pieces of data located in The Skin Genome Database. You can access the quiz here.
